Phnom Penh—Bilateral trade between Cambodia and Vietnam reached USD 11.33 billion in 2025, reflecting an 11.7 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024, according to Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Minh Vu.
The ambassador stated that Cambodia’s exports to Vietnam totaled USD 5.66 billion, representing a strong 18.4 percent increase, while imports from Vietnam amounted to USD 5.67 billion, up 5.7 percent year-over-year. The figures highlight balanced and steadily expanding trade relations between the two neighboring countries.
Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu made the remarks during a discussion titled “The Communist Party of Viet Nam in Viet Nam’s New Era of Development,” held on 8 January 2025 in connection with the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Viet Nam.
He expressed confidence that the current growth momentum would support the shared ambition of both governments to significantly expand economic cooperation and raise bilateral trade to USD 20 billion in the near future.
The USD 20 billion trade target was reaffirmed during a high-level meeting on 1 September 2025, when Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen met with senior Vietnamese leaders, including To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam; Tran Thanh Man, Chairman of the National Assembly; and Pham Minh Chinh, Prime Minister of Viet Nam.
During the meeting, leaders from both sides agreed to continue strengthening cooperation and promoting trade and investment to achieve the USD 20 billion goal within the coming years, underscoring the strategic importance of Cambodia–Vietnam economic ties.
