Dubai, UAE – January 29, 2026 — The Cashew Nut Association of Cambodia (CAC), represented by Vice President Mr. Suy Kokthean, is participating in the World Cashew Conference taking place in Dubai from January 29 to February 1, 2026. The event brings together global cashew experts and industry leaders to discuss sustainable growth and market challenges.
During the conference, CAC has been actively engaging with major buyers and stakeholders, emphasizing its commitment to supporting farmers and strengthening Cambodia’s role in the international cashew sector. In addition to public sessions, the CAC participated in closed-door discussions with countries producing raw cashew nuts (RCN), including Tanzania and several West African nations, to address mounting concerns about global production levels.
In 2025, worldwide RCN output reached 5.5 million tonnes. Projections suggest this figure could rise to 7 million tonnes by 2030, sparking fears of oversupply and declining prices. West African countries, particularly Nigeria, are planning large-scale expansions, with initiatives to plant approximately 18 million new cashew trees.
Cambodia, currently ranked as the world’s second-largest RCN producer, has shown signs of stable production. However, expansion of farmland has slowed due to strict deforestation laws and farmers shifting toward more profitable crops. In contrast, West Africa is experiencing rapid growth in cashew cultivation, raising questions about future market balance and sustainability.
Mr. Kokthean highlighted that CAC’s participation underscores Cambodia’s agricultural roots and its dedication to ensuring farmers benefit from global trade opportunities. The CAC continues to advocate for responsible growth strategies that balance production with long-term market stability.
