PHNOM PENH, Cambodia, Aug. 5 — Handcrafted Cashew Nut Stung Treng (HCST), a Cambodian cashew-processing enterprise, is expanding its international market reach, preparing to export up to 125 metric tons of finished cashew products to the United Kingdom and Japan.
The company’s Managing Director and owner, Muth Chariya, told AMS news media on Aug. 5 that HCST currently has a processing capacity of about 10 metric tons of cashew nuts per day and employs 67 workers across its production operations.
While the company supplies a limited volume to Cambodia’s domestic market, with its products currently available at Aeon Mall Phnom Penh, the majority of its production is destined for overseas markets. HCST is currently processing a combined 125 metric tons of finished cashew products for shipment to the UK and Japan.
The British Embassy in Cambodia said the company’s exports to the UK are supported by UK Export Finance (UKEF), the UK government’s export credit agency, which provides financial support and trade guarantees to facilitate international exports and investment.
The embassy said HCST’s successful expansion into the UK market demonstrates the quality and potential of Cambodia’s agro-processing sector, while congratulating the company and expressing hope that more Cambodian products will reach British consumers.
Cashew Nut Association of Cambodia (CAC) President Silot Uon described HCST’s UK exports as a significant milestone for Cambodia’s cashew industry, particularly given the stringent quality and food-safety requirements of European markets.
“Exporting processed Cambodian products to European markets is not easy,” Silot said, stressing that HCST’s achievement demonstrates the sector’s growing ability to meet international standards and increase value addition.
The expansion is also seen as an important step in Cambodia’s efforts to shift from exporting raw agricultural commodities toward higher-value processed products, helping producers capture greater value from the country’s cashew supply chain.
According to the CAC, Cambodia exported more than 1.03 million metric tons of raw cashew nuts during the first half of 2026, generating approximately US$1.5 billion in export earnings. The association said the volume represented a 27% increase compared with the referenced previous period.
The growing exports of finished cashew products to demanding markets such as the UK and Japan are expected to strengthen Cambodia’s reputation as a supplier of quality agro-processed products and create further opportunities for investment and value-added production in the domestic cashew sector.
