KAMPONG THOM, Cambodia, November 5, 2026 — The Cashew Nut Association of Cambodia (CAC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with SAMAN Corporation of the Republic of Korea to cooperate in developing Cambodia’s cashew industry, including plans to establish a processing plant with a daily capacity of 20 tonnes for export and support three agricultural communities in Kampong Thom province.
The agreement was signed by Mr. Suy Kokthean, Vice-President of CAC, and Mr. Park Yeong Wook, representing SAMAN Corporation, establishing a framework for cooperation in agricultural infrastructure, cashew production, processing, training and international development projects.
Under the MoU, the two parties will collaborate on agricultural and infrastructure development by sharing technology and experience in irrigation, drainage systems, agricultural production infrastructure, and the development and maintenance of processing and storage facilities.
The partnership will also cover the development of the cashew value chain, including production, post-harvest management, processing, quality control, marketing and exports.
Training and capacity building are another key component of the agreement. Both organisations intend to develop training programmes and materials, facilitate expert exchanges, and organise workshops and study visits for farmers, agricultural cooperatives and processors.
In addition, CAC and SAMAN will exchange information on development projects and jointly identify and develop potential agricultural and infrastructure initiatives, including Official Development Assistance (ODA) projects.
The MoU also allows both parties to explore other areas of cooperation by mutual agreement. Specific activities, responsibilities, implementation schedules and cost-sharing arrangements will be determined separately in writing.
The partnership is expected to create opportunities to strengthen local cashew processing capacity, improve technical skills among farmers and processors, and support the development of three agricultural communities in Kampong Thom.
Through this cooperation, CAC aims to advance domestic value addition, expand export-oriented processing and strengthen Cambodia’s position in the international cashew market.
