Phnom Penh, December 18 — The Cashew Nut Association of Cambodia (CAC) was invited by the Korea–Cambodia Agricultural Research Center (KCARC) to participate in the 2nd International Agricultural Research Forum, held on December 18, 2025, in Phnom Penh. The forum aimed to strengthen sustainable agricultural cooperation between the Republic of Korea and Cambodia and to promote the localization of the Korean Livestock–Crop Circulation Model (K-Eco-Loop) within Cambodia’s agricultural systems.
The event brought together representatives from government agencies, universities, research institutions, and private-sector organizations to exchange knowledge and discuss key topics, including agricultural recycling technologies, the realities of rural communities in Cambodia, organic agriculture strategies, and future models for bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

Some discussions at the forum are closely aligned with CAC’s ongoing initiatives, particularly in areas related to composting and organic inputs. CAC highlighted its efforts to integrate innovative biological solutions, including Indigenous Microorganisms (IMO) from the Republic of Korea, Highly Effective Micro-organism (HEM) from Australia, and Effective Microorganisms (EM) from Japan. These approaches aim to reduce production costs, enhance climate resilience, and minimize the use of chemical inputs in the cashew industry, thereby supporting sustainable farming practices and ensuring safer food for consumers.
The forum was held under the theme “Livestock–Crop Circulation Planning and the Sustainable Future of Cambodian Agriculture” at the Phnom Penh Marriott Hotel. It was organized by the Korea–Cambodia Agricultural Research Center (KCARC) and co-organized by Sangji University of the Republic of Korea.

According to Mr. Silot, Chairman of the Cashew Nut Association of Cambodia, KCARC has expressed growing interest in Cambodia’s cashew sector and is actively working to attract a Korean company to operate cashew processing plants in the country. He noted that KCARC has already engaged with CAC on this initiative and expressed optimism that a positive decision would be reached in the near future.
The forum underscored the importance of international collaboration in advancing sustainable agriculture and highlighted the potential for innovative livestock–crop circulation models to contribute to Cambodia’s long-term agricultural development.
