Vietnam’s cashew kernel export sector recorded a robust start to 2026, with strong year-on-year growth in both volume and value despite seasonal disruptions during the Lunar New Year period.
According to industry data, Vietnam exported a total of 82,283.54 metric tons of cashew kernels in January and February, marking a 20.97% increase compared to the same period in 2025. Export turnover reached $560.6 million, up 19.83% year-on-year, reflecting continued global demand for Vietnamese cashew products.
The average export price remained relatively stable at $6,791.90 per metric ton, showing only a slight adjustment of 1.34%, indicating steady market conditions despite rising volumes.
Seasonal Dip in February Performance
While overall performance remained strong, February exports experienced a temporary slowdown, with shipment volumes totaling 25,908.81 metric tons. The decline was largely attributed to the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday, which took place from February 14 to 22, a period during which many businesses pause operations.
United States Remains Top Market
The United States remained Vietnam’s largest export destination, accounting for 18.61% of total exports in February. The country remains a key consumer of Vietnamese cashew kernels, sustaining its leading position in the global market.
Trade Hubs Play Key Role in Distribution
Beyond direct consumer markets, several major international trade hubs continued to play a significant role in Vietnam’s export network. Singapore accounted for 7.22% of exports, followed by the United Arab Emirates (5.28%), Turkey (4.96%), and the Netherlands (4.72%).
These markets serve as important transit and redistribution centers, highlighting their strategic importance in facilitating global cashew trade.
With strong early-year performance and stable pricing, Vietnam’s cashew export industry appears well-positioned to maintain momentum throughout 2026, supported by resilient demand and an established global distribution network.
