Phnom Penh, March 11, 2026 — Cambodia is set to begin exporting raw cashew nuts valued at approximately $35 million to China, with long-term plans to expand the trade to $400 million, according to officials from the Ministry of Commerce.
The export initiative was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on a Cashew Nut Supply Contract between China Bonded Port Group Co., Ltd. and Men Sarun MDR Co., Ltd. on March 11, 2026.
The signing ceremony took place at the Ministry of Commerce during a courtesy call and working meeting between Samheng Bora, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Commerce and Chairman of the Export Promotion Task Force (EPTF), and Mr. Jiang Xiaofei, Director of the Overseas Enterprise Expansion Working Committee of the China Institute for Innovation & Development Strategy, who led a delegation representing China Bonded Port Group.
The meeting was also attended by the Undersecretary of State, the Director General of Trade Promotion, and technical officials from the Ministry of Commerce, along with representatives from Men Sarun MDR Co., Ltd.
Discussions during the meeting focused on strengthening economic, trade, and investment cooperation between Cambodia and China, while also exploring opportunities to expand the export of Cambodian agricultural products to the Chinese market.
According to the Ministry of Commerce, the agreement will launch the export of raw cashew nuts (M23 variety) to China with an initial trade value estimated at $35 million. During the meeting, Samheng Bora welcomed the Chinese delegation and emphasized the importance of strengthening the agri-food sector and value chains, which play a key role in promoting Cambodia’s sustainable economic development.
Officials noted that the agreement was made possible through the coordination efforts of the Export Promotion Task Force (EPTF), which works to connect Cambodian exporters with international buyers.
The partnership between the two companies is expected to support the continued expansion of Cambodian cashew exports to China while also sending a positive signal to Chinese investors interested in Cambodia’s agricultural sector. Authorities believe the initiative could help further develop agro-processing capacity and broaden Cambodia’s agricultural exports to global markets.
