Phnom Penh, March 31, 2026 — Cambodia’s Ministry of Commerce convened a high-level seminar on Tuesday aimed at boosting the global competitiveness of Cambodian products through market diversification, innovation, and improved quality standards.
The event, titled “Market Diversification of Cambodian Products,” was presided over by Kao Kosal, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Commerce, who delivered the keynote address during the opening ceremony.
The seminar drew broad participation from across the public and private sectors, including deputy directors general, department heads, officials from relevant ministries and institutions, as well as producers, processors, supermarket representatives, and industry associations such as the Cashew Nut Association of Cambodia (CAC).
Focus on Innovation, Market Expansion, and Competitiveness
Organizers outlined three key objectives for the seminar: enhancing innovation, boosting market presence, and strengthening competitiveness. The initiative aims to support Cambodian businesses in improving product quality and standards to better compete in both domestic and international markets.
Five speakers from the public and private sectors shared insights and practical experiences across a range of topics, highlighting strategies to adapt to evolving market trends and consumer demands.
Call for Greater Production and Export Diversification
In his remarks, Kao Kosal urged producers and processors to increase domestic production capacity and strengthen their capabilities across the value chain. He emphasized the importance of developing products aligned with current market trends while expanding supply chains to support broader market access.
He also highlighted the need to diversify export markets to increase Cambodia’s presence globally and reduce reliance on a limited number of destinations.
Encouraging Support for Local Products
The Undersecretary of State called on consumers to continue supporting Cambodian-made products, noting that stronger domestic demand would encourage manufacturers to maintain high standards of quality, safety, and hygiene.
He added that building consumer confidence is essential for Cambodian products to succeed both locally and internationally.
The seminar reflects the Ministry of Commerce's ongoing efforts to strengthen Cambodia’s trade capacity and position its products more competitively in the global marketplace.
