Phnom Penh, January 6, 2026 — Senior officials from Cambodia and Brazil have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral trade and investment, aiming to better reflect the untapped economic potential of both countries.
On the morning of January 6, 2026, a commitment was made during a meeting between H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice-Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), and H.E. Vivian Loss Sanmartin, the Ambassador of Brazil to Cambodia.
During the meeting, the two sides held in-depth discussions on ways to boost and expand bilateral trade volumes. They identified several priority sectors for enhanced cooperation, including agriculture and agri-industry, with a focus on increasing the exchange of agricultural products and sharing modern farming techniques.
The food processing industry was also highlighted as a key area of cooperation, with Cambodia seeking to attract experienced Brazilian investors to develop processing facilities that can supply both domestic and international markets. In addition, the officials explored opportunities in the electrical and electronics industry, particularly the potential for building integrated production and supply chains linking the two regions.
Beyond sector-specific cooperation, both sides discussed the organization of an investment promotion mission to Brazil, which would serve as a strategic “door-knocking” initiative to showcase Cambodia’s investment opportunities. The mission is expected to promote incentives offered by the Royal Government of Cambodia under the new Law on Investment, facilitate direct connections between business communities in both countries, and position Cambodia as a strategic gateway to the ASEAN and Asia-Pacific markets.
The meeting underscored the shared determination of Cambodia and Brazil to deepen economic ties and translate diplomatic relations into concrete trade and investment outcomes in the years ahead.
