CAC News
PHNOM PENH, August 21, 2026 — The Cashew Nut Association of Cambodia (CAC) sent three representatives to participate in a dissemination workshop on the use of the PASNet App and Web Portal of the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port (PAS), as well as a survey on logistics costs, transportation time and service reliability.
The participation marked the first time that the CAC has been invited by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) to take part in the ministry’s logistics-related consultation and information-sharing activities.
The workshop was held in Phnom Penh on Friday, August 21, and was presided over by H.E. Heng Non, Secretary of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport.
The event brought together public entities and representatives of business associations, private companies and other stakeholders also attended the workshop.
Two Key Objectives
The workshop focused on two main objectives.
The first was to disseminate information about and promote the use of the PASNet App and Web Portal, a digital platform of the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port intended to facilitate access to port-related services and information.
The second objective was to conduct a 2026 survey on logistics costs, transportation duration and reliability, with the participation of private-sector companies and relevant stakeholders.
For Cambodia’s agricultural and agro-processing sectors, logistics costs and reliability are particularly important factors affecting competitiveness. The availability of efficient transport and port services can influence the cost of moving agricultural products from production areas to domestic processing facilities and international markets.
CAC Engagement in Logistics Policy
The participation of the CAC provides the association with an opportunity to share perspectives from Cambodia’s cashew sector and contribute private-sector feedback to the government’s efforts to improve transportation and logistics services.
Cashew is one of Cambodia’s major agricultural commodities, with increasing efforts to expand domestic processing and exports. Improved logistics infrastructure and services are therefore considered important to supporting the sector’s long-term development and international competitiveness.
Silot Uon, president of CAC, said the invitation represents an important opportunity for the CAC to engage more closely with government institutions on issues affecting the private sector.
Government Expands Logistics Survey
The General Department of Logistics plans to continue expanding the scope of its surveys among private companies during 2026.
The surveys are intended to collect more detailed information on logistics costs and transportation times, as well as identify challenges faced by businesses and gather feedback from the private sector.
The government expects the information collected through these surveys to serve as important inputs for policymaking and the continued development of Cambodia’s transportation and logistics sector.
For the CAC, participation in the workshop is also an opportunity to ensure that the specific logistics needs and challenges of the cashew industry are increasingly reflected in national transport and logistics planning.
The CAC could further build on this engagement by collecting logistics-cost and transport-time data from its member companies to provide sector-specific recommendations to the relevant authorities.
